From Chateau Tanunda's estate vineyard on the sandy loam soils on Bethany creek. Settled by German immigrants in the 1840s, Bethany, or ‘Bethanian’ as the locals called it is the oldest settlement in the Barossa.

The wine has lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black pepper supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak.

"Deepish red colour with a trace of purple, a touch forward-developed, the bouquet very vegetal and herby with strong hints of whole-bunch. It's very peppery, and these characteristics turn supple, succulent and fruit-sweet in the mouth, while the tannins maintain suppleness and persistence. This tastes of a cooler clime, but retains the luxurious fruit sweetness and succulence of the Barossa. An interesting wine."
