Oakridge Over the Shoulder Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018
"Deep dark cherry-red with dark red hues. Bright, spicy cherry fruit, blood plum, cinnamon, pomegranate and hints of raspberry and musk. Depth and weight apparent. Ripe yet crunchy fruit – black fruited with a weaving of lighter, red fruit detail; alpine strawberry, preserved cherry and cranberry that add a nice fruit-acidity. This in turn add a sense of line and length."
James Halliday 95/100
This Pinot Noir was sourced from vineyards in Gladysdale (40%), Woori Yallock (39%) and Coldstream (21%) with the inclusion of 10% whole bunch fruit. Maturation took place in mixture of barriques, hogsheads and puncheons for 10 months.
Semi translucent bright dark red colour with a light crimson red hue. Fragrant aromas of dark cherries and strawberries laced with violets emanate from the glass trailed by a light meatiness and spicy cedar. Light and fresh, delicious ripe dark cherry and strawberry flavours fill the palate with an undercurrent of meaty characters and spicy cedar. Slightly dryish but finely grained tannins. Good depth with an aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, strawberries, some meatiness and earthy cedar. Cellar 4-5 years.
