Awarded 96 points and "Best of the Best" wines in James Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
The wine is dense, deep red in colour. The flavours are fresh wild berry, mulberries and other dark fruits. French oak integrates with the fruit and lend a savoury spice nuance without dominating. The wine is generous and opulent in while young and this will continue to develop as it ages. As the wine matures the flavours will develop towards fruitcake, licorice, chocolate and mocha.
Only 800 bottles, each individually numbered.
"Inky and dark, brooding and chewy, deeply flavoured and concentrated with dried fruits, dried cherry, raisin and choc-mocha characters in cahoots. It sticks to the palate, ripples with dusty, woody tannins, draws out long and leaves a volley of tongue-seeking-moisture movement going on. Liquorice, salt bush, light saltiness chiming in. Boot polish, boot, straps and all. Very dark, dense thing this is, a black hole of Barossa shiraz, and I can see the drinkers slapping the table with their meaty palms with encouragement. Does it pretty well." Gary Walsh, Winefront.com.au
