Handpicked Wines Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Big & Bold, Red, Full-bodied! This wine has heaps of grunt and flavour and the classic firm tannin finish of great Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Beautiful deep red in colour and aromas of dark berries, cedar and spice with lifted oak character. The palate has dark, spicy berry fruits and firm tannin. Serve with lamb – roasted rack in spring, butterflied on the barbeque in summer and slow-cooked shanks in winter or some aged cheddar.
Vintage 2013 was excellent, with moderate conditions overall. Good fruit set and large bunches required thinning at veraison to maintain quality. Warm, dry days and cool nights in autumn produced optimum ripeness in Cabernet fruit.
This fruit was grown on vines aged between 20 and 50 years. The wine was aged for 15 months in a mix of old and new American and French oak hogsheads.
