Palate Profile

Henri Giraud Fût de Chêne MV is the emblematic cuvée of the House, the expression of the Henri Giraud style. MV17 stands for Multi-Vintage 2017: a blend of several vintages from a perpetual reserve since 1990 with the dominant base of the 2017 vintage. Mainly Pinot Noir, all the grapes come from the Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ. Thanks to aging in oak barrels and this remarkable terroir, MV17 presents a great complexity and richness

Critic Awards

This is so precise and tight with sharp acidity and very fine bubbles. Yet, its rich in flavours with a broad array of hazelnuts, salted lemons, crushed chalk and hints of wild herbs and flowers. White grapefruit, too. Textured and sleek, almost creamy, while remaining mouthwateringly fresh. Drink or hold.

Region and Grapes

Region: Aÿ-Champagne
Grapes: 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay
ABV: 12.5%

Decent Champagne

The MV17 was a little disappointing compared to the older vintages. I found the flavors to be a little bland and lacking character, everything seemed muted compared to previous vintages. I have tried the MV10 and MV13 which are significantly better and are the standards to which I hold this brand.
