McHenry Hohnen Amigos White Chardonnay Marsanne Roussanne 2016
This is a medium bodied and finely textured blend of three varieties. Marsanne brings lovely weight and subtle aromatics to the wine, with Chardonnay adding viscosity and richness. Roussanne is leaner and brings mineral character to the wine along with racy acidity. This wine is vinified with minimal intervention by the team at McHenry Hohnen.
Aromas of sweet grilled peaches, butterscotch and lanolin leap from the glass. Delving deeper sweet and savoury notes of peanut brittle and wet slate can be found.
A complex and textural palate reveals layers of stone-fruits, grilled nuts and preserved Meyer lemons. Finishing sweet and long with flavours of salted caramel and custard powder spice.
Bursting with personality this wine must be shared with “Amigos”!
McHenry Hohnen’s winemaking ambitions reflect more than 30 years' of biological farming, grape growing and winemaking in Margaret River.
Each wine is created to be a uniquely individual character; expressive of variety, season and growing site.
We specialise in showcasing Single Vineyard character through unadulterated, minimal intervention handling.Where appropriate, varieties are blended but only when the outcome is a wine that will be greater than the sum of its parts.
Winemaking follows simple, traditional principles where soil health and vine vitality are king in the vineyard and minimal handling in the winery with minimum additives make the genuine characters of the wine sing.
Varietal characters are pre-eminent and complemented by the aromas, flavours and textures that evolve during the maturing of the wine.
These are derived from indigenous yeast, malolactic bacteria, yeast autolysis and grape solids.
The most simple and forgotten approach; allow the grapes to become wines.
