Palate Profile

The name Pajè comes from the Piedmontese dialect by which different vineyards were historically named at the time. It is one of the historic vineyards of the village of Barbaresco and is located in the center of the village’s vineyard area.

The vines for this wine range in age from 25 to 50 years, where the average age is over 40; the vines are exclusively of massal origin with wood obtained in pruning from this vineyard.

Bottle production is very limited, with less than 10,000 bottles per vintage. The total number of bottles produced can be found in the label

Critic Awards

A tightly wound, sleek red marked by floral, cherry, menthol and mineral aromas and flavors. Reveals ripeness midpalate and builds to a lingering, detailed finish. Shows plenty of energy and complexity. 563 cases made.

Showing a transparent or almost naked quality of fruit, the Roagna 2017 Barbaresco Pajè is a lovely and graceful wine that maintains an exceptional feeling of lightness and elegance despite everything we've heard about this hot and dry vintage. The workmanship is exceptional in the Pajè with chiseled aromas of forest berry, iris root, licorice and a subtle dusting of white pepper. The mouthfeel is characterized by extremely fine tannins.

The 2017 Barbaresco Paje ofers up a compeling mélange of sweet red-toned fruit, cinnamon, blood orange, leather, cedar ond tobaco Deceptive inits mid-weight structure, the 2017 fleshes out nicely with a bit of time in the glas, showing its natural breodth ond creaminess Here, too, there is a good bit of immediacy and overall appeal.
