Average 25yo vines from across Eden Valley; matured in seasoned French oak barrels. St Hallett's deep reach into the great sites of the Eden Valley and its blending wizardry forge an exquisite take on this great vintage. At once concentrated and vibrant, spice-laden and enduring. Impeccably constructed tannins draw out a finish of pinpoint detail and lingering persistence.

Deep red/purple colour, and a rich black-fruit aroma, laced with star anise and licorice, the palate rich and fruit-sweet, sumptuously-flavoured and opulent, the tannins ample but very soft and supple. A luxurious but also elegant wine.

Boysenberry, red currants and blueberries appear on the nose, joined by hints of bay leaf and dried spices. It's medium to full-bodied, and despite being aged in French oak, it's edgier and more obviously tannic than the Blackwell Shiraz. Hold it another year or two, then drink it over the following decade or so.
