Palate Profile

Ranked #17 in the Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2017.

Bodegas Volver is a joined venture between American importer Jorge Ordoñez and Spanish winemaker Rafael Cañizares and was established in 2003. Bodegas Volver produces wines in the Autonomous Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, Alicante and Murcia. They also use the advice of Aussie winemaker Chris Ringland

The wine, the creation of Rafael Cañizares, enologist and founder of Bodegas Volver, is created with 100% Monastrell grapes which are found in the region of Alicante and characterised by its fine aging. “It is a very well-structured wine with a sweet finish that gives it a roundness that makes it easy to drink. Its aromas are toasted, of leather and spices”, its creator says.

This limited edition magnum is presented in a stunning metal tube.

Critic Awards

From old vines and aged 14-16 months in French oak, the 2015 Tarima Hill sports an inky color as well as a smoking bouquet of black raspberries, blueberries, pepper, and dried flowers. It's broad, expansive, and sweetly fruited, with a great mid-palate and sweet tannin. It's a sexy fruit bomb done with class!

This red shows grace and depth. Black cherry, plum, mineral and smoke flavors mingle harmoniously over well-integrated tannins, while lively acidity keeps this focused. Not showy, but all the pieces fit together. Balanced, in the modern style. Drink now through 2025.

This wine has terrific aromatics, broad, expansive flavors, about 15% natural alcohol and an expansive, heady mouthfeel. This is rich, dense and Provençal in its flavor components. Totally aged in used oak and and stainless steel, the wine is a real sleeper and big-time winner in the values sweepstakes. Drink it over the next several years.
