Casas Del Bosque Reserve Pinot Noir 2017
This 100 percent Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard, located within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley. The vines are 10 to 15-year-old, sourced from hillside blocks planted on 110-million-year-old decomposed granite. The grapes underwent a double selection process before going into small stainless-steel tanks for fermentation. The wine was aged for twelve months in second-to-fifth-use French oak barrels.
On the nose, strawberries and dried figs blend with notes of black tea, complemented by hints of vanilla and spice from the French oak barrels. Medium bodied, concentrated but balanced, with some tannin that will reward ageing in bottle. Finishes long and clean.
"Plush, sappy redcurrant and raspberry aromatics, while the bittersweet red fruit palate is framed with a bright, neat acidity".
