Profile
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri is a striking example of elegance and structure from one of Tuscany’s most acclaimed producers. This vintage offers a deep ruby colour in the glass and immediately captivates with its refined aromatic complexity—bright cherry, crushed raspberry, and pressed rose interweave with subtle notes of tobacco, white pepper, and hints of dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, with fine, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity supporting layers of red fruit, spice, and a touch of savory earth. The finish is long, polished, and deeply satisfying.
This Brunello is crafted with meticulous attention both in the vineyard and the cellar, reflecting the estate’s commitment to purity and finesse. It is approachable in youth with decanting but has the depth and structure to cellar gracefully for 10–15 years or more.
Critics have widely praised this release. Luca Gardini awarded it an impressive 97+ points, describing it as “a great classic of the house” with “raspberry on the nose, hints of white pepper, laurel, peony, and sweet licorice,” and praised its “brackish-sapid mouthfeel” and floral notes. James Suckling rated it 94 points, noting its layers of redcurrant, lavender, and dried herbs, calling it full-bodied with impressive depth. Wine Enthusiast also gave it 94 points, highlighting its aromatic intensity, balance, and cellaring potential. The wine continues to receive acclaim from collectors and connoisseurs around the world.
A superb choice for special occasions or as a centrepiece in a fine wine collection, the 2019 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino exemplifies the poise and power of great Sangiovese.
