Profile
The Le Dix de Los Vascos 2021 blends artisanal craftsmanship with Chile’s Colchagua terroir, primarily from the venerable El Fraile vineyard—home to vines dating back over 60 years. The blend is anchored by 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 3% Syrah and 3% Cabernet Franc, continuing a tradition rooted in Bordeaux-inspired winemaking under the domain of Baron de Rothschild. The 2021 vintage faced one of the coolest seasons in recent memory, prompting a slower ripening cycle and careful picking between April 15 and early May to achieve proper phenolic maturity.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby hue edged with garnet. The bouquet opens with intense, refined aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and cassis, interwoven with cedar, cocoa, graphite, and subtle tobacco notes—hallmarks of high-quality oak and barrel integration. On the palate, the experience is both structured and elegant, offering firm but polished tannins layered with crisp acidity and generous fruit—plum, spice, and mocha notes evolve toward a lingering, refined finish.
-
James Suckling awarded it 95/100, complimenting its “ripe and fruit‑expressive nose,” generous complexity, quince and red‑berry character, along with dark spices and fine dusty tannins leading to a persistent finish.
-
Decanter mirrored the sentiment with a 95/100, emphasizing cherry, red currant, and blueberry aromas, harmonious palate texture, accomplished freshness, and fine-grained tannins that promise aging potential.
-
Wine Enthusiast rated it 92/100, noting juicy red-berry fruit framed by delicate tannins and spice layers—refined, balanced, and enjoyable now or after additional cellar aging.
