Profile
The Louis Jadot Chablis 2023 is a classic expression of unoaked Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most renowned négociants. Sourced from vineyards planted on Kimmeridgian limestone soils—typical of the Chablis region—this wine captures the hallmark freshness and mineral purity that fans of the style seek. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its crisp fruit profile, it offers a clean and vibrant experience in the glass.
On the nose, the 2023 vintage is bright and lifted, with aromas of green apple, lemon zest, and white peach, layered with subtle floral notes and a whisper of chalky minerality. The palate is equally compelling, showing zesty citrus and orchard fruit flavours, balanced by a fine line of acidity that gives it energy and drive. There’s a soft, almost creamy texture at its core, adding depth without losing the wine’s signature tension and precision. A clean, flinty finish lingers with notes of crushed seashell and grapefruit pith.
Critics and wine lovers have responded warmly to this release. Wine Enthusiast awarded it 88 points, praising its balance of fruit and freshness, while others have highlighted its value as a dependable Chablis that performs well above its price point. IntoWine gave it 92 points, calling it “crisp, zesty and almost salty,” with a pleasant, oily texture through the mid-palate that adds weight without heaviness.
This is a versatile white wine that pairs effortlessly with seafood—think oysters, scallops, prawns—or light poultry and creamy cheeses. It’s also enjoyable on its own as a refreshing aperitif. Though drinking beautifully now in its youth, the wine has enough structure and acidity to develop over the next few years, making it a smart short-term cellar candidate as well.
Overall, Louis Jadot’s Chablis 2023 delivers everything you’d hope for in a well-made village-level Chablis: clarity, minerality, freshness, and understated complexity. It’s a wine that’s both approachable and refined, making it a great introduction to the region as well as a reliable bottle for seasoned Burgundy drinkers.
