Profile
The Louis Jadot Pommard 2021 is a refined and full-bodied Pinot Noir that showcases the character of this prestigious Côte de Beaune appellation. A blend drawn from multiple terroirs within Pommard, it undergoes traditional winemaking: fermentation in vats over 3–4 weeks using natural yeasts, followed by barrel aging for about 12–16 months (approx. 1/3 new oak)
Reflecting the clay-rich Pommard soils, the wine pours a deep red‑black color and presents a pronounced aromatic profile. Expect intense notes of ripe red fruits—cherry, raspberry, currant—woven with savory layers of musk, game‑meat, earthy forest floor, iron, and spice.
On the palate, this is a structured yet elegant wine. Tasting notes describe it as rich, dense, and muscular, with firmly grippy tannins balanced by generous fruit and vibrant acidity. Overlaying secondary flavors include earthy, leathery, and slightly savory undertones complemented by oak-derived spice.
Critically, the Wine Spectator notes: “rich and dense, this cherry- and raspberry-flavored red shows accents of earth, iron and spice. Its muscular tannins hold court on the finish” and believes it will show best between 2027 and 2039
