A richly flavoured red from sun-drenched southern Italy, made using the traditional appassimento method, where grapes are partially dried on the vine to intensify flavour without excessive weight. This blend offers the plush fruit of Primitivo and the earthy depth of Negroamaro in perfect harmony.

Expect vibrant ruby red colour with orange flecks, and a bouquet of ripe berries, cherry jam and warm spice. The palate is smooth and fruit-forward, with a touch of dried fruit sweetness balanced by a clean, fresh finish.

"The traditional, time-honored "Appassimento" process has been used for centuries, historically from Italy's Veneto region in the production of its famous Amarone reds. Here, the technique of drying grapes on the vine, is applied to rich, ripe grapes in Puglia instead. This concentrates the fruit to almost unbelievable levels, and results in a wine that's unctuous, bold, and delicious! The 2021 Bastioni della Rocca Puglia Appassimento is powerful and dark. Aromas of sweet cherries and red plums are woven together with earth, tobacco, grilled herbs and hints of leather. Full-bodied and smooth with soft tannins a lingering depth of flavour on the finish."
