Profile

Bodegas Portia is Grupo Faustino’s most recent winery project and is the seventh winery in the group. Located in the heart of Ribera del Duero, the Portia winery is a  display of modern design, winemaking function, and artistic detail. Portia offers very small production wines; intense, energetic, and balanced.

Designed by renowned British architect, Sir Norman Foster, the winery project is the perfect link between winemaking, the environment and haute architecture. Built in concrete, wood, steel and glass, its 12,500 square meters are spread over three floors in the form of a star whose three points correspond to the different areas of vinification, fermentation and ageing.

Portia Prima La Encina 2020  is clean, bright, intense cherry red colour developing to ruby. Complex, warm. Vanilla and black fruits notes, cocoa on the background. Tasty, structured and very balanced. Very long finish in barrel aging hints and black fruits.

Critic awards

Pine cones, minty blackberries, blueberries, dried licorice and roasted dark spices extend to a very full-bodied palate. It's deep and dense with a juicy core of black plums, wrapped by fresh yet fine tannins . Modern and extremely well made. 100% tempranillo from a single vineyard.

— 93 points, James Suckling

Blackcurrant, blueberries, tobacco leaf, cocoa, mocha and cola nut. Mineral and stony with grippy, ripe tannins and refreshing acidity. An intense wine that offers immediate pleasure as well as ageing potential.

— 93 points, Decanter Magazine

The 2020 Portia Prima comes from Ribera del Duero and was aged 13 months in French oak barrels. Garnet-red in hue. The nose presents earthy, ripe blueberry and smoky hints layered over a subtle woody backdrop. Indulgent with plush, polished tannins, the rich palate precedes a flavorful, lasting finish.

— 90 points, Antonio Galloni - Vinous
