Profile
Fresh, coastal, and distinctly vibrant, the 2025 Jester Vermentino from Mitolo is a brilliant example of McLaren Vale’s growing strength in Mediterranean white varieties. Sourced from the Lopresti family’s Lot 10 Vineyard in Whites Valley, where rich Biscay clay soils and cooling sea breezes define the terroir, this Vermentino captures the essence of its coastal origins.
In the glass, it shines pale straw with lively green hues. The nose is aromatic and inviting, showing layers of white stone fruit, fresh pear, and salted lemon, alongside hints of white musk, pawpaw, and a touch of tropical pineapple. The palate is crisp and textural, with a zingy line of acidity and minerally, talc-like finesse leading to a clean, mouthwatering finish.
This release has earned praise from leading wine critics for its finesse, flavour, and drinkability:
Sam Kim – Wine Orbit (92 Points)
“Delicately lifted on the nose, showing green apple, fig, lemon zest, and white floral nuances, leading to a tightly structured palate offering fine focus backed by linear mouthfeel, finishing lingering and mouth-watering.”
Ray Jordan – Winepilot (90 Points)
“A Vermentino that combines its natural zinginess with a nice textural touch. Lemony mandarin peel aromas with a trace of pear. The tightly held palate delivers with a succulent crunchy flavour intensity that drives through to a long finish. Minerally and slightly chalky. Neatly made wine.”
Kasia Sobiesiak – The Wine Front (90 Points)
“Slippery-chalky texture, with plenty of citrus, white nectarine crunch, and yellow grapefruit happy bitterness to end. It’s fruity, it’s floral. And it’s as good as it gets.”
Bright, textural, and food-friendly, the 2025 Jester Vermentino is a stellar partner for fresh seafood, grilled vegetables, and summer salads. Serve chilled and enjoy the coastal elegance in every glass.
