Profile
The 2020 San Fabiano Chianti Riserva DOCG is a distinguished Tuscan red that exemplifies the elegance and depth characteristic of the region's finest wines. Crafted from a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot, this wine originates from the gravelly soils of Campriano, situated at an elevation of 400 meters. The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested in early October, ensuring optimal ripeness and quality.
Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete vats. The wine then matures for 12 months in 25-hectoliter French oak barrels and undergoes an additional six months of bottle aging, resulting in a harmonious integration of flavors and textures.
In the glass, the Chianti Riserva displays a deep ruby red hue. The nose is greeted with intense aromas of mature red fruits, complemented by subtle notes of oak-derived spice. On the palate, it offers a rich and persistent taste, characterized by a balance of fruitiness and structural complexity. The wine's robust body and refined tannins make it an excellent companion to hearty dishes such as grilled meats, aged cheeses, and traditional Tuscan cuisine.
With an alcohol content of 14%, this Chianti Riserva is both approachable in its youth and capable of graceful aging, promising to evolve beautifully over the next several years.
