Collection: CHATEAU D’ESCLANS, Domaines Sacha Lichine

In 2006 Sacha Lichine acquired the Château d'Esclans. The Chateau’s cellar (known today as the oldest in the region) housed an original Chateau that was given by the Count of Provence to Gérard De Villeneuve, in 1201. The current chateau, inspired by the style of Tuscan Villas, was built during the mid 19th century.

The Chateau d’Esclans vineyards are located in the heart of Côtes de Provence, 40km north of the coast above SaintTropez (up in the rocky limestone hillsides of the valley of Esclans and away from the sandy flatlands). Today, Château d’Esclans consists of 140 hectares of vineyards producing estate vineyard and bottled rosés. The total property has 427 hectares.

Château d’Esclans is the vision of Sacha Lichine, who was born in one of the wine world’s most prominent families: Sacha’s father was nicknamed “The Pope of Wine”. Sacha brought on board Patrick Léon, who for 20 years was the head winemaker of Château MoutonRothschild. Together in 2006 they set out to create undisputed quality wines and pioneer the premium rosé category.
The winemaking benefits from unparalleled technical expertise and uses state of the art technology, such as optical-eyes sorting machines and an innovative pressing process under inert gas to avoid oxidation. Château d’Esclans is also the only estate that uses 600 Liter French oak Demi Muids that are individually temperature controlled during fermentation
