Kemenys Hidden Label™ Wines were born in 2004, during a period when Australia was awash with excess wine. At the time, many producers were quietly selling unlabelled “cleanskins” — outstanding wines in plain boxes — but leading wineries were understandably reluctant to discount their own branded labels for fear of damaging long-term value. We were approached by respected producers, including Leconfield and others, looking for a smarter solution.

Rather than selling anonymous wine, we created a plain white label and focused on transparency where it mattered most — the winemaker, not the brand. The name Hidden Label™ came from an offhand comment that the words on the label were “too hidden”, sparking an idea inspired by Where’s Wally. The winemaker’s name is subtly woven into the background of the label, hidden within repeating text, allowing customers to uncover who made the wine without publicly discounting the producer’s brand. Have fun trying to find the winemaker’s name — it’s truly “hidden”.

Every Kemenys Hidden Label™ wine is 100% identical to the wine sold under the winery’s own label — the only difference is the price, often up to half of the original RRP. Since 2004, we’ve worked with hundreds of major and boutique producers across Australia, as well as select wineries from Italy and New Zealand. The philosophy remains unchanged: exceptional wines, complete integrity, and the very best possible value. You won’t be disappointed.
