Considered one of the largest producers of Spanish wines, Vega Sicilia is undoubtedly one of those legendary names in the world of wine. The Vega Sicilia story begins in 1864 when Don Eloy Lecanda, son of Toribio, becomes the heir to parcels of vines that were passed down from his father, who had acquired them from the Marquis de Valbuena. The Marquis de Valbuena was the one who first started to grow vines at the Bodega Vega Sicilia by planting Bordeaux varieties, as well as the renowned Tempranillo, the flagship black grape of the area.
OREMUS
"Tokaj, the wine of kings and king of wines" is how Louis XIV described it when he tasted it and the legend of the Tokaj has steadily grown over its more than four hundred year history. Yet it would not be until 1630 when the greatness of the Oremus vineyard was first mentioned and today it enjoys the highest universal recognition.
