Profile
While the Faure family’s estates have traditionally been centred in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, Delphine Faure had a dream to expand into the neighbouring Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Côtes de Blaye).
In 1995, Delphine made this dream come true by acquiring Château Fontarabie, a place she fell in love with at first sight. This smart move shows Delphine’s vision for growth and her passion for exploring different terroirs. By adding Château Fontarabie to the family’s portfolio, Delphine not only expanded their estates geographically but also opened a new chapter in winemaking, further enriching the Faure family’s legacy in Bordeaux.
On the nose it is fruity, well-built and offers a good definition, a fine grain as well as a certain intensity. It reveals notes of pulpy cassis and pulpy small black fruits associated with fine touches of violet, black plum, zan as well as hints of graphite, strawberry, very fine hints of incense, toasted, vanilla extract and a very discreet hint of pepper. On the palate it is fruity, very slightly tight, well-balanced and offers minerality, roundness, suavity, a small freshness, structure, a finely acidulous frame as well as fine juiciness. The wine expresses notes of raspberry, redcurrant and small notes of blackcurrant associated with touches of small black fruits, zan, lilac, cornflowers as well as hints of tonka bean, cardamom and cocoa / roasting. Tannins are well-structured.
