Profile

Chevalier Delaude, hailing from the Languedoc, embodies the spirit of southern France, focusing on the region’s unique Terroir and Mediterranean influences.

Chevalier Delaude was created by Thomas Delaude, locally known as a “knight of the fertile soil” for his deep connection to the land. In the sun-drenched south of the Languedoc, this outstanding wine grows on clay-limestone soils where the art of grape growing reaches its apogee.

"This stunningly good value GSM blend is sourced from an estate between Corbieres and Minervois. There's a lot going on: its earthy base supports rich black coffee notes, cloves and cinnomon, leather and smoke, and it's all held together by a fragrant, floral freshness. Powerful but food-friendly." Wine Merchant Magazine, February 2025

"Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre; bold, moreish, delicious. I 'blind' tasted it to guess the grapes and blend - and nailed it - testament to it really tasting like it's varieties. Quintessential Southern French stuff." Decanter World Wine Awards, 2024: Gold Medal, Best Value. Tom Surgey

Critic awards

Superbly ripe and richly expressed, the bouquet shows blackberry, smoked game, potpourri, and roasted hazelnut aromas. The palate is equally impressive with terrific weight and concentration, wonderfully framed by plump mouthfeel and beautifully melded tannins, making it highly enjoyable. 95 Points

🥇 Gold medal — Decanter World Wine Awards

Depth of flavours and complexity in the wine - leads to notes of attractive cherry-red fruit, black plum, white pepper. Inky, vibrant, vein of minerality. Opaque, intense damson and liquorice, sprinkle of herbs, plummy fruit and tightly structured. 95 Points

This is a wine that shows what can be achieved in the Languedoc. It's a generous wine chock full of rich, concentrated ripe black fruits complemented with a sprinkle of dried herbs and a little pepper. It's rich and has a juicy succulence which makes the palate so appealing with a combination of ripe plummy fruits, a little dark chocolate, and an edge of licorice. Fine tannins provide the core to support the fruit as it drives through to a sustained finish. An impressive wine offering great value for this quality.
