Profile

The 2024 Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a beautifully perfumed and vibrant expression of the region — a wine that captures the purity and finesse of a cooler, long-ripening season. Aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, rose petal and gentle spice rise immediately from the glass, supported by subtle oak and a signature Yarra Valley mineral lift.

Critics have praised Giant Steps’ 2024 releases for their energy, clarity and vineyard transparency, with early commentary noting the wines show “remarkable precision, purity and effortless drinkability — a vintage of charm and finesse.” Those impressions are unmistakable here: the palate is silky and finely structured, delivering layers of bright red fruit, pomegranate, cranberry and subtle forest floor wrapped around ultra-fine tannins.

There's a beautiful line of acidity that gives the wine lift and tension, echoing critic remarks about the “freshness and balance that define the best Yarra Valley Pinots of the decade.” The finish is long, pure and delicately spiced — leaving a sense of elegance rather than weight.

A superb example of why Giant Steps remains one of Australia’s benchmark Pinot Noir producers.

Drink now for its vibrancy or cellar 5–7 years for additional complexity.

Critic awards

"A 50/50% mix of upper and lower Yarra estate and grower fruit. 30% whole bunches. A very bright crimson purple. Pretty and complex with aromas of red cherry skins and rhubarb together with some pink peppercorn spice and a light savoury edge. More approachable than the '23. As a young wine, the medium-bodied palate is spicy, silky and long. It'll probably age well but it's so good to drink now that there's no need to bother!"
