Profile

This 2023 Riesling has both elegance and intensity, with true traits of lime, spice and white florals on the nose and a generously flavoured palate. Lively acid, mineral texture and a powerful and persistent lemon finish.

ABOUT KEMENY'S HIDDEN LABEL

Kemeny's Hidden Label range is a unique concept where we sell the exact same commercial wine under our Hidden Label range.  The only difference is we sell these for around half the price they normally sell for under their own label.  Also, for some added fun, we have hidden the name of the winemaker on the front label to give you a clue of what the actual wine really is!

Critic Awards

With fabulous clarity, the wine shows green apple, lemon zest and white floral notes on the nose, followed by a crisp-dry palate that’s pristine and lingering. Splendidly styled and expressed with finesse and elegance. At its best: 2026 to 2038.

It is a wonderful thing when nature gives a region three cracking vintages on the trot and the Clare Valley has certainly been blessed. This is pale straw with a nose radiating with citrus, limes, spices and florals. Lovely stuff, full of flavour. This is approachable now but certainly has an exciting future, especially at this price. The palate gives notes of orange blossoms. Slightly crunchy acidity and a long, lingering, clean finish, which maintains its intensity. Six to ten years.

Pale lemon lime hue. Lime cordial and sweet baking pastry aromatics. Fresh and vibrant on entry with loads of lemon and lime fruit tones. As it flows we see a touch of oatmeal savoury and hints of talcy minerality. Good length with ample fresh acidity to the finish.

A lot of the 2023 rieslings I’m seeing from the Clare Valley carry intense fruit flavour, and this is another. Lime, bath salts, mandarin and kaffir lime leaf notes give this wine some real impact. It has a little more texture, too, than you might expect, though perhaps slightly less length – though it’s not short. Overall it’s a solid release, and reliably good.
