Lime leaf and green apple aromas give way to fresh white cut flowers. Flavours are delicate and bright with power to persist, held together with precise acidity. The palate finishes with clean, slate minerality. Careful cellaring and patience will reward with graceful ageing.

Critic Awards

Expressing outstanding precision and clarity, it’s delicately aromatic on the nose with green apple, lemon zest and lime cordial nuances, followed by a brilliantly focused palate displaying poise and linear mouthfeel. Captivating and engaging with an impressively long refined finish.

Notes of wattle and lime juice lead into a pithy palate dominated by tangy citrus tones of lemon, lime and mandarin with a saline minerality. The acidity is thirst quenching on this delicately composed wine. This is beautifully balanced with crystalline precision.

The 2022 Ackland Vineyard Watervale Riesling is austere in its acid line, with lemon flesh and salt, like the precursor to a tequila shot. In the mouth, things turn far more serious; the fruit is fleshy, savory and succulent, with salted lime flesh, green apple, soapstone, hints of florals, and fine, chalky phenolics. It's a very smart wine that will age prodigiously.

This is intense, fragrant, beautifully perfumed, finely balanced and all a little bit thrilling. A Riesling of finesse with lemons and limes, florals plus a gentle whiff of crisp pears and good mineral backing. Bright acidity runs the length of the journey and it is certainly a wine with length. If Riesling is your thing, you’ll regret not having this in your cellar, if you miss out.

A prototypical dry riesling for the Southern Hemisphere's most important riesling region, this is brimming with lime, green-peppercorn and fresh-basil aromas. Concentrated, juicy and elegant, this has all we expect from the Watervale district. Long finish that's super-clean and ripe. Drink or hold.
