A highly flavoured and textural wine that bucks the trend for this variety, sourced from 20 year old vines from the Calgardup Brook Vineyard.

Lifted and varietal nose, with delicate notes of gooseberry and frangipani, intertwined with pastry notes from extended lees contact and barrel maturation. The palate is fresh but full flavoured and textural, with a core of ripe tropical fruit and a touch of grassiness, balanced by a salty acid line. A highly flavoured and textural wine combining varietal definition and intriguing barrel ferment complexities.

Critic Awards

Very good sauvignon. Similarly contoured to a good sancerre such is the rapier-like acidity bearing mirabelle, greengage and gooseberry. A creamy curb of oak (16% new) is buried amidst the mid-weighted fray. A structural addendum over a scream. The finish grows in weight and juiciness across a long trajectory. I'd love to see this in five years time.

Light, bright yellow; nutty barrel-fermentation notes on what is quite a detailed bouquet, creamy lees and nutty influences, the varietal fruit playing second fiddle. Good intensity and energy in the mouth, with nice lemony acidity and richness, then a lingering aftertaste. This will reward cellaring.
