The 2014 Shiraz Savitar comes from a tiny, extremely rocky part of the Lopresti Vineyard (from a block called the Chinese Block) and 40+-year-old vines. It’s destemmed and spends 18 months in 100% new French oak. It’s a beautiful 2014 offering notes of ripe dark fruits, iron, tobacco, and olive. It has an almost Hermitage-like style, full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, and a great finish, all making for a stunning McLaren Vale Shiraz that will keep for 10-15 years.

On the third step of the ladder in the Mitolo shiraz hierarchy, sharing the depth of colour of all its siblings. The bouquet is strikingly different, with spicy, savoury, woody aromas leaping out of the glass. The full-bodied palate borrows heavily from the bouquet with its complex web of dark fruits and earthy notes.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz Savitar offers black and red currants on the nose with hints of aniseed, cloves, chocolate box and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is surprising elegant and softly textured, with a quiet intensity of red and black fruit, finishing long and spicy.
