Palate Profile

Weingut Robert Weil is one of Germany's, and the world's, greatest white wine producers, focusing on just one grape variety - Riesling.

The estate was founded in 1867 by Dr Robert Weil in the beautiful village of Kiedrich, on the north side of the Rhine River, in the historic Rheingau region. Today, the estate is run by the fourth generation Wilhelm Weil, who meticulously oversees 90 hectares of Riesling, and wine releases across all sweetness formats.

Ethereal introduction to the delicate beauty of Robert Weil Rieslings, with lemon and mandarin aromatics, a fleshy mouthfeel with a chalky outline.

This is the estate's Gutswein, the regional blend that is the base of VDP classification pyramid, sourced from vineyards around the beautiful winery location in Kiedrich. All matured in stainless steel.

A wine of succulent charm made for earlier drinking enjoyment.

Critic Awards

Enticing spring blossom, white peach and Amalfi lemon aromas with a touch of herbal freshness. Elegant and racy with a tight core of wet stone minerality and fine tannins. Very crisp and bright finish. For a basic dry riesling this should age extremely well. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Typical of the variety on the nose, green apple, lemon zest, peach, slate spiciness, wet rock. Straightforward on the palate, clear, good acidity, light-bodied, medium-weight extract, mineral spiciness, slightly salty, peach fruit behind it, plus lemon.

The 2021 Rheingau Riesling Trocken is clear and fresh but a little bit dull on the nose, as if there were a layer of paper between the fruit and nose. Round and lush on the palate, this is a quite rich and juicy estate Riesling with vibrant mineral acidity and a well-structured, persistent finish. Excellent.
