Profile

A pure expression of a lightly oaked Pinor Noir, Micault 2020 displays a deep ruby color. This cuvée features aromas of red fruit, fresh rose and peony, with a hint of blood orange. On the palate, the tannins are supple and savory. We also find a full-bodied side which leaves a juicy impression in the mouth. Enjoyable today, this Pommard will evolve gracefully over the next 10 years.

Founded in 1726, Château de Pommard combines three hundred years of savoir-faire and the innovative vision of Famille Carabello-Baum for the future. Located in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, Château de Pommard is one of the oldest wine estates in the region and its 300-year-old chateau and clos is UNESCO-protected.

Critic awards

Typical of the domaine's wines, it marries a juicy, unashamed depth of ripe red berry fruit with terroir notes of minerals and light smokiness. On the palate that energy from very delicate oak influence and ripe but refined tannins and acids gives beautiful mouthfeel and texture. This will cellar for a decade or more, but its balance and elegance mean it offers immediate gratification too.

— 93 points, Tom Cannavan

Silky and juicy with aromas of rose hips, cherries, chocolate orange, lemons and a touch of cinnamon. Medium- to full-bodied with silky yet very present tannins. More weighty at the end. Drink or hold.

— 91 points, James Suckling

Aromas of fresh blackberries and newly plucked thyme are tossed in aromas of dried soil, mint and salt. The palate is pristine, with flavors of red cherry balanced by cooked rhubarb and blackberries. It is linear, with brisk acidity and fine tannins that coat the front palate.
