Palate Profile

2020 produced another outstanding Margaret River vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon was a standout variety with intense colour, fruit weight and aroma.

The wine has an abundance of dark cherries, boysenberries and blackcurrants greet the nose. The fruit spectrum is wrapped around complex layers of star anise, black cardamom, cedar, clove, cumin and fennel seed. There is a gentle lift of
freshly picked violets and lavender.

Concentrated and textured, dark black fruits meet cacao and coffee on the palate. There is power and structure tuned with finesse and elegance. A graphite, mineral and ethereal thread is laced throughout. Star anise and cinnamon quill provides an extra layer leading to a fine, powdery, and slightly chalky finish.

Critic Awards

Deep red with a good tint of purple in the rim, the bouquet showing tobacco/cedar, nori/briar and peaty/iodine-like nuances. It's full-bodied and powerful, with lavish tannins, bright acidity and good concentration. Redcurrant and blackberry—red and black fruits both evident. A very smart and ageworthy cabernet.

Lovely colour, deep, dark and very youthful. Complex and lifted aromas of bramble, dried herbs, cassis, wild thyme, cedar and tobacco. Dark, inky and concentrated in flavour. Blackberry, briar, satsuma plum, creamy oak and spice are all at play. Layered, complex, mouth-filling and with plenty of classic Margaret River cabernet qualities. The tannins are firm, textured and shapely and the acidity has precise cut and drive. Sophisticated, multi-faceted and delicious.
