“Savitar” is a mythical dragon-like monster, and this wine is so named because of the impression Frank Mitolo and Ben Glaetzer had upon tasting one particular lot in the Willunga vineyard. They were so blown away they decided to make a Shiraz from just the small lot, and Savitar was created.

Critic awards

Deep colour; a powerful, full-bodied shiraz leaving not even a scintilla of doubt about its regional and varietal provenance, but does so secure in the knowledge of its balance and length; supple black fruits licorice and dark chocolate are backed by quality oak and polished tannins on the long palate.

Vanilla, cedar and mint notes mark the nose, while this wine boasts just enough fruit on the plate to carry the lavish oak. It's full bodied, creamy and supple, amply concentrated but still very approachable.
